Theme of the Month: Unlimited Mercy (Mathew 27:51; Hebrew 4:16)

Topic:
The Place of Mercy (Romans 9:15-16)

In this life, the only thing that is constant is the mercy of God. Literally, mercy could be seen as a kind or forgiving treatment of someone who should be treated harshly. It could also be seen as compassion or forbearance shown especially to an offender or to one subject to one's power. Mercy is an act of kindness, compassion or favour. It is something that gives evidence of divine favour and blessing.

The journey to the top in life requires the mercy of God to be successful. We need the mercy of God in order to secure access to everything obtainable in the kingdom of God. A life without mercy is full of struggle and profitless hard labour. When mercy steps into such life, a new story of success begins.
God said in Romans 9:15-16 “For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy”. As a covenant child, we are entitled to ask God for what we need, ask Him to show you mercy!

Pharaoh gave an order for the death of all male sons born to the Israelites in order to check their population growth. The order was so severe that no male child survived. But when Moses’ mother gave birth to him, she never gave up on him, and by providence, he was spared for three months. But it became dangerous to keep him further and she devised a scheme to release him for adoption. By the mercy of God, it was Pharaoh’s daughter that the lot fell on to adopt him. She found Moses in the river where his mother took him and adopted him. She released Moses to be brought up by the real mother under her protection. After he was weaned, Moses was raised in the palace of Pharaoh.

Pharaoh must be seeing Moses in the palace and he must know from his skin colour that he was not an Egyptian but an Israeli, yet he spared him. Moses lived on the provision of the palace as provided by Pharaoh and enjoyed peace and protection also. The mercy of God was upon him and the people that should be threat to his life, were those that actually took care of him. The mercy of God can make so great a difference in your life, that when everybody is lamenting, you are rejoicing. When the economic system of the world is wobbling, in the midst of it, God’s children will continue to prosper.

Mercy works at the instance of faith. When living faith is provoked, the mercy of God speaks! (Acts 14:8-10). We receive forgiveness, blessing, healing, promotion, strength to finish strong and/or do so many exploits by the mercy of God. Access to the kingdom of God is obtained by mercy. I pray for you that the unlimited mercy of God will stand you out for uncommon favour this year and the rest of your life in Jesus name.
