PASTORS CORNER 1ST DEC, 2019

THEME OF THE YEAR: COVENANT OF PEACE (ISAIAH 54:10). THEME OF THE MONTH: A SON IS GIVEN (ISAIAH 9:6). TOPIC: MANAGING YOUR PURPOSE IN LIFE On this occasion of our just concluded convention, a convention of transition from one administration to another, tagged from Glory to Glory, I congratulate you for coming to a new month, the twelfth of our Gregorian Calendar month which also forms the end of year 2019. I congratulate you for many victories you won to see this season of the year. While congratulating you and myself, I lift my voice of gratitude to the Almighty God for His sustaining grace that kept us in the faith and the fold of the Foursquare movement as heaven bound pilgrims. May He be there for us till we see Him in eternity in Jesus name. It is because of our hope to stay through to the end and see Him in eternity that the theme of this month excites me. What do we mean by “A Son is Given"? Isaiah prophesied about the birth of Jesus Christ in this text (Isaiah ...
THEME OF THE YEAR (NEW HEIGHTS LEV 26:13) PHIL 3:13-14 THEME OF THE MONTH: ORACLES OF GOD (1 PETER 4:11). TOPIC: THE BLE SSEDNESS OF INFORMED HEART. God dwells in unapproachable light. He however loves to manifest Himself to mankind so that we can walk with Him. It is important that those who will walk with Him humble themselves to learn says "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will from Him; so they can be wise in the things of the kingdom. Matthew 11:28-31 give you rest.   11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.   11:30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light", When we fail to become learners, we often end up frustrated in the faith or we go on fumbling along in the journey as we follow God by the figment of our minds or the cultivation of our culture. To be oracles of God in word or deed, we must stri...

PASTOR'S CORNER

JANUARY 7, 2018 1st Sunday Service Theme of the Year: New Heights (Lev. 26:13; Phil. 3:13,14) Theme of the Month: New Heights (Lev. 26:13; Phil. 3:13,14) Topic: Flourishing Pathway to New Heights (Psalms 92:12-15;93) The theme, New Heights, suggests that there is old height. What is height to one may not be height to another; so this theme is relative. Everyone of us must examine our present level and what the height of the next level(s) will be. What it simply means to do this is that we will need to set responsible goals for this year and many years to come for different aspects of our lives. The text for today's message suggests that to flourish spiritually toward God, one must first of all be planted in His house. We need to be spiritually connected to Him. That means that we must follow the only way that leads to Him, which is through faith in the vicarious death of Jesus Christ. Every soul that will embark on spiritual jouney that leads to heav...

OUR DAILY BREAD December 31, ,2017 Sunday FAITH-BUILDING MEMORIES Great is your faithfulness.  Lamentations 3:23 Lamentations 3:19–26 Bible in a year: Malachi 1–4; Revelation 22 As I stepped into the music-filled sanctuary, I looked around at the crowd that had gathered for a New Year’s Eve party. Joy lifted my heart with hope, as I recalled the prayers of the previous year. Our congregation had collectively grieved over wayward children, deaths of loved ones, job losses, and broken relationships. But we’d also experienced God’s grace as we recalled changed hearts and healed personal connections. We’d celebrated victories, weddings, graduations, and baptisms into God’s family. We’d welcomed children born, adopted, or dedicated to the Lord, and more—so much more. Reflecting over the history of trials our church family faced, much like Jeremiah remembered his “affliction” and his “wandering” (Lam. 3...

OUR DAILY BREAD December 30 Saturday TIMES OF COMPLETION They sailed back to Antioch, where they had been committed to the grace of God for the work they had now completed.  Acts 14:26 Acts 14:21–28 Bible in a year: Zechariah 13–14; Revelation 21 At the end of the year, the burden of uncompleted tasks can weigh us down. Responsibilities at home and work may seem never-ending, and those unfinished today roll into tomorrow. But there are times in our journey of faith when we should pause and celebrate God’s faithfulness and the tasks completed. After the first missionary journey of Paul and Barnabas, “they sailed back to Antioch, where they had been committed to the grace of God for the work they had now completed” (Acts 14:26). While much work remained in sharing the message of Jesus with others, they took time to give thanks for what had been done. “They gathered the church together and reported all that God had done through them and how ...

OUR DAILY BREAD  December 29, 2017 Friday  WHAT REMAINS IN THE EYE  How many are your works, Lord!  Psalm 104:24 Psalm 104:24–35 Bible in a year: Zechariah 9–12; Revelation 20 The hummingbird gets its English name from the hum made by its rapidly beating wings. In other languages, it is known as the “flower-kisser” (Portuguese) or “flying jewels” (Spanish). One of my favorite names for this bird is  biulu ,  “what remains in the eye” (Mexican Zapotec). In other words, once you see a hummingbird, you’ll never forget it. G. K. Chesterton wrote, “The world will never starve for want of wonders, but only for want of wonder.” The hummingbird is one of those wonders. What is so fascinating about these tiny creatures? Maybe it is their small size (averaging two to three inches) or the speed of their wings that can flap from 50 to 200 times per second. We aren’t sure who wrote Psa...
