The Lagos State Government has given operators of tutorial and continuing education centres in the state up to September 19 to register such institutions or  face disciplinary action.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Mr. Obafela Bank-Olemoh, who made this known in a statement on Wednesday, added that the state government has rolled out fresh requirements for the registration of such centres.

According to him, the move is to reiterate the government’s commitment to regulating the education sector in the state.

In the statement signed by the Public Affairs Officer,  Office of the Special Adviser on Education, Mrs. Kehinde Fashola, Bank-Olemoh added that the government would do all in its power to improve the quality of education in the state.

Bank-Olemoh said, “As a government, we must set standards across board and ensure they are met. These centres serve the needs of many Lagosians and we are committed to delivering high quality of service to the citizenry.”

Every eligible centre, he added, must have qualified instructors/teachers, good learning facility with safety precautions duly observed as well as an up-to-date record keeping system.

He added that the state government had in 2015 agreed with operators of such institutions, including the Association of Tutorial School Operators and the Agency for Mass Education, to carry out the directive.
