Redeemed security guard arrested for impersonating Adeboye Dokunola 

 Mai guard reportedly attempted to cash N.6 million belonging to Pastor Adeboye – Suspect pleads ‘not guilty’ to charges read against him Nigerian Tribune reports that a security man with the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has been nabbed for impersonating Pastor E A Adeboye, the General Overseer of the denomination.

 The man identified as Awobola Babatunde was reportedly arraigned before an Ebutte Metta magistrates’ for allegedly opening an account in Pastor Adeboye’s name and attempting to cash a cheque of N600,000. Investigations revealed that the said offence was committed on June 6 at No 1/9, Redemption Way, Ebutte Metta, with the stolen Fidelity Bank cheque valued at N600,000. Police prosecutor, Aghoi Gbemileke, informed that, “The accused falsely presented himself as Pastor Adeboye by opening a savings account at Aguda, Surulere branch of Fidelity Bank in his name. “He opened the account in order to cash the cheque and convert the money to personal use. “Babatunde also opened the account in order to be stealing money from the church as they plan to pay in more cheques.” 

After pleading ‘not guilty’ to the charges leveled against him, the security guard was admitted to bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum. The presiding magistrate, Mrs B Folarin-Williams, added that sureties must be blood relations of the accused and must produce evidence of tax payment to the Lagos state government, and adjourned the case till August 4. Recently, the revered man of God popularly referred to as Daddy GO, said that the federal government led by President Muhammadu Buhari is helpless without God. Daily Post reports that the pastor expressed his opinion while speaking on the theme “No More Delay” during special prayers held at the RCCG Headquarters in Lagos. Adeboye, who spoke through his special assistant on administration and personnel, Pastor Johnson Odesola, appealed in his speech to the youth, mature singles and their families, those who have suffered delay in careers, promotion and child bearing. He called on the youths to seek the face of God for better days to come.
